The name of Salvatore Ferragamo is well-known to fans of haute couture. Created in 1928, this famous Italian brand has long existed only as a manufacturer of luxurious and elegant footwear. The shoes of the legendary brand were worn by the most eminent stars of cinema – Audrey Hepburn, Merlin Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Sophia Loren, and many other celebrities were the admirers of the talented shoemaker.
Unrivaled design, first-class quality materials, and excellent workmanship, as well as incredible wearing comfort, have become the hallmark of Salvatore Ferragamo. The maximum perfection of the brand’s products is achieved thanks to the handicraft of the best artisans and designers, as well as the latest technological developments and modern equipment.
Nowadays, in addition to footwear, the Salvatore Ferragamo brand produces jewelry, watches, clothing, and various accessories, including frames and sunglasses, which have been produced by the American company Marchon Eyewear since 2012, and whose brand portfolio also includes brands such as Fendi, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Dragon, Skaga, Pure, and others.
Sunglasses from Salvatore Ferragamo are known for their one-of-a-kind look that combines subtlety with sophistication. For the manufacture of frames and sunglasses, only high-end materials are used. Typically, hand-made cellulose acetate and stainless steel are used to create high-tech optics. The combination of plastic and metal makes frames durable, weightless, protected from corrosion and various mechanical damage.
Designing new models of Salvatore Ferragamo eyewear, designers draw on the brand’s rich archive, which serves them as a source of inspiration. The symbols of the brand are often used as decorative elements of the glasses, in particular the round Gancini hook, which, according to a family legend, resembles the forged key on the gate of the medieval palace of Spini Feroni.
For the new Spring / Summer 2021 collection, brand creative director Paul Andrew drew inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock’s films Marnie, Birds, and Vertigo. The catchy looks presented by the models at the fashion show were complemented by a variety of accessories, including sunglasses showing a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity in a variety of colors from classic monochromes to more vivid shades.
