Salvatore Ferragamo was famed for being a talented shoe maker. Back in the late 1920s, when most of the famous houses were not yet known, Salvatore created beautiful shoes for the stars in Hollywood. Driven by a desire to create perfect shoes, he studied the art of shoe making in depth.
Anatomy, engineering, mathematics – all this knowledge helped him develop shoe pads that correctly distributed the load on the feet and made it easier to wear high heels, which was so important for women, for whom his shoe skills were primarily intended. The master’s shoe items were stylish, made of high-quality materials and, most importantly, they were incredibly comfortable – even in shoes with thin heels from Ferragamo, women felt perfect and confident. But for men, he created only one shoe model, which he wore himself.
The designer noted that it is impossible to find even one decent pair of machine-made shoes, and has always followed the rule: real shoes can only be sewn by hand.
The unrivaled quality and original designs of Ferragamo footwear models rightfully occupy a leading position in the footwear industry. The name of the master is forever etched in the list of fashion designers who have had a particular influence on the development of fashion.
Salvatore Ferragamo died, but the brand continued to develop successfully, expanding production with the famous Gancino bags, ready-to-wear line, accessories, perfumes and eyewear collections.
As a tribute to the great creator, the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum was established, which tells the story of the great shoemaker, who received about 370 industrial patents in his life.
The main focus of the brand’s optical lines is luxurious décor. Refined decorative elements demonstrate the brand’s character and its elegant style. Delicate, laconic decorations give the products the Italian charm inherent in the brand. Women’s frames are adorned with the branded Gancino clasp. The adornment of the gentleman’s accessories is the brand’s inscription of the same name. When creating eyewear collections, the latest technological developments and modern equipment are always used.
Today we have a great chance to see the Tuscan countryside filtered through the lens of men’s sunglasses from the brand’s Italian Roads Spring-Summer 2020 collection. The collection is a contemporary vision of men’s eyewear style that introduces silhouettes of everlasting minimalist elegance.
This capsule collection comprises sleek frames in rectangle, round and aviator styles. To create the 2020 men’s eyewear capsule, the designers explored archival shapes from the 1950s and 1960s and then combined cutting edge materials with Gancini, the house’s emblem. The iconic Gancini, a signature two-piece clasp detail remains the exclusive symbol of impeccable elegance.
